I'm sick of Vigano and the likes. They are always dissenting and making statements that are causing confusion and division.

Living in Italy you're removed from the real world. Vigano, contrary to being a tin hatter, is more in touch with reality than most prelates (and certainly Francis) after his work in the Vatican, being Papal Nuncio to the US and visiting dioceses and bishops all over the USA, living in DC, the power center of the USA and speakiung at the UN in NYC. He's 100% on target with his beliefs.

Why didn't the Dicastery for Communications remove Rupnik's artwork _on account of it being terrible?_His stuff repeatedly, consistently, and almost relentlessly, looks ugly. It looks childish and mass-produced, like unhappier versions of cartoons in cheaply-produced catechetical materials for eight-year-olds. What is it about modern prelates -- or, perhaps, the assistants, bureaucrats, and gatekeepers who make decisions in the prelates' names? -- that they exhibit such _execrable taste?_ How can they fail to be repulsed by Rupnik's style, when they have the entire prior tradition of Catholic and Byzantine art against which to compare it?

I can only assume the recent decision re: Cardinal Vigano was partly to help the faithful understand that if they continue to follow him, they risk being quite deliberately and consciously in schism with the Church. I do think that's an important position to make really clear because right now, it's a bit of a 'wild west' with some really radical groups still calling themselves Catholic while clearly acting in disobedience to the Pope and the Church. As a layperson, I appreciate the Vatican offering that clarity.

Well if we can get by the off-color language the Pope used, the message was; The priesthood isn't a closet for gay men to hide in , it's a place for men who have been called to do God's work. Your laudatory comments about the qualifications of career American Foreign Service Service Officers for the post of Vatican Ambassador has a lot of merit. My father was one such intelligent, savvy and diligent person! He worked in Milan during the early part of his career in the 1930's. It is so seldom I hear anything kind about career FSO's. Most people don't know they exist. You definitely made my day! If my father had been nominated as ambassador to the Holy See (he really wouldn't have been) there would have been a huge learning curve, since he was a Protestant, and wouldn't have understood anything about why Catholics do things the way they do. I think being a Catholic in good standing should be one of the qualifications.🤩

Very sad and disappointed in our Pope. Why these comments weren't meant for public ears, it shows a disposition of heart toward women that feels in sharp contrast to what he has said he desires for women in the Church. There is no way to to misunderstand a connotation that 'soft' is womanly (I know soft men who aren't gay and strong women) and therefore undesirable and that gossip is a woman's thing. Really? I've heard more gossip from men than women in my life.
